Basic requirements mandate that an applicant be a citizen of the United States, at least 21 years of age at the time of testing, be a high school graduate or GED equivalent, possess a valid driver’s license; and successfully pass an extensive background investigation. In addition, the applicant must satisfactorily complete a physical agility test; a civil service written test, medical, psychological, and polygraph exams, and oral interviews.
