The Arkansas "Take Back" collection of expired and unused medication is available twice a year. To find a location near you, visit www.ARTakeBack.org.
For those unable to come to the FSPD on those dates, a permanent drop box is available 24 hours a day throughout the year. Read below for more details.
In cooperation with the River Valley Tobacco & Drug Free Coalition and Nunnelle & Wright Commercial Properties, the Fort Smith Police Department is
pleased to announce there is now a permanent drop-off location for unwanted medications. The box is located at the Fort Smith Police Department’s
main headquarters building located at 100 South 10th Street, and will be accessible by the public twenty-four hours a day.
The Fort Smith Police Department recognizes the dangers of keeping unused, expired or otherwise unwanted medications and the drop box makes it simple for
the public to dispose of those drugs in a safe manner. Citizens do not have to fill out any paperwork or even speak to a police department employee, they
can simply drop off their unwanted medications and leave – no questions asked.
The drop box is not limited to prescription medications. Illegal drugs will also be accepted; however, liquids and syringes are not allowed.
The box was made possible by a donation from Nunnelle & Wright Commercial Properties.
