911 Information

In an effort to assist the Citizens of Fort Smith with 911 emergency lines we ask that you consider checking your cell phone for single button "Emergency" dialing. The 911 center currently answers in excess of 100 calls per day on an average day and over 400 calls per day in the event of a major incident or crisis.

One way citizens can assist with making sure the lines are open is to check their cell phones. Many cellular phones are programmed with single button calling to 911. When phones are placed in purses or on belts, the keys are inadvertently pressed and the phone will call 911. Please take a moment to lock the keypad on your cell phone and help keep the emergency lines open for actual emergencies. Contact your local cellular provider for information on how to program/lock your phone.
